Customs Clearance & Advisory

Customs clearance consultant for Turkish trade: customs declarations, brokerage, A.TR and EUR.1 origin documents and tariff advice so your goods clear customs cleanly at both ends.

Customs clearance and advisory is the service that gets your goods legally and smoothly through customs at the Turkish border and at your destination. Clearance fails on paperwork, not on goods: a wrong declaration, a missing origin certificate or a misclassified product can hold an entire container and cost you storage, demurrage and a late delivery. As your customs consultant we prepare and check every declaration and document, and advise on the duty treatment that saves you money.

What customs clearance and advisory covers

We act as your customs broker and advisor on both sides of the shipment:

  • Export customs declarations in Turkey and coordination of import clearance at destination
  • Certificates of origin: A.TR movement certificate (Turkey-EU customs union) and EUR.1 (free-trade agreements)
  • Commodity-code (HS) classification and tariff guidance
  • Customs valuation and duty calculation
  • Document review before every shipment to prevent holds

Clearing customs at both ends

A shipment crosses customs twice: out of Turkey and into your market. We handle the export declaration in Turkey and work with trusted brokers at your destination so the two clearances line up rather than contradicting each other. Because clearance and shipping must agree, this service runs hand in glove with our logistics and freight coordination.

Origin documents and preferential duty

The right origin document can cut or remove duty entirely. The A.TR movement certificate covers industrial goods in free circulation moving between Turkey and the EU, while the EUR.1 proves preferential origin under a specific free-trade agreement. We determine which applies and prepare it correctly, so you claim the saving instead of paying full duty by default. The wider compliance picture, including standards and screening, sits in our trade compliance and documentation service.

HS classification and tariffs

Every product has a commodity code (HS code) that sets its duty rate and determines which rules apply. Misclassification is one of the most common and expensive clearance errors, triggering holds, penalties or overpaid duty. We classify your goods correctly and advise on the tariff and any trade-remedy measures that affect them, so there are no surprises at the border.

Frequently asked questions

What is an A.TR certificate?

The A.TR is a movement certificate that lets most industrial goods in free circulation move between Turkey and the EU at preferential (often zero) duty under the customs union. We prepare it so your EU shipments are not charged duty they do not owe.

Do I need a customs broker to import from Turkey?

In most markets, yes, customs clearance requires a licensed broker. We coordinate the Turkish export side and work with a destination broker, so you have one point of contact rather than two disconnected clearances.

Why was my shipment held at customs?

Almost always a document or classification problem: a missing or wrong certificate of origin, an incorrect HS code, or a mismatch between the invoice and the goods. Pre-shipment document review is exactly how we prevent it.

How does customs clearance in Turkey work?

Customs clearance in Turkey runs through a licensed customs broker who files the export declaration on the exporter's behalf and assembles the Turkey customs clearance documents: commercial invoice, packing list, the A.TR or EUR.1 certificate and the customs declaration. We handle the Turkish side, in Istanbul and the main ports, and coordinate import clearance at your destination. Under the Turkey-EU customs union, correct documents let most industrial goods clear into the EU at preferential duty.
